Marketa completed her undergraduate studies at the Beijing Language and Cultural University, and her postgraduate studies at Charles University in Prague. After a few years of work experience with Chinese companies in the Czech Republic, she returned to Asia to pursue further education. She received her PhD in Sociology at Hong Kong University and was awarded a prize for the best doctoral thesis in Sociology in 2003. Later on, her enthusiasm for study led her to achieve an LLM in International Human Rights Law and a Master in Journalism at Hong Kong University.
Marketa has more than 10 years’ experience working in higher education, teaching both undergraduate and graduate students at Hong Kong University, City University and the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
Marketa has led a program for designing tailor-made career paths opportunities for Hong Kong university students. With her assistance, her former students have been accepted for further studies at various universities all around the world.
